Last night, we practiced after an afternoon settling into the hotel, napping, and relaxing at the beach and pool. The boys were pumped to play under the lights - and showed up ready to play. It was exciting to have Captain Alex Spring back at practice after his broken hand. 3d's Bart Sullivan, former DI coach, offered advice during drills. The boys seemed to enjoy Notre Dame's Cadet drill, working hard on transition and clearing.
This morning at 6:45, we began with a little a.m. yoga stretch and polar bear dip in the Gulf of Mexico - team bonding exercise. After a hearty breakfast, we boarded our coach bus for a 45 minute drive to the Premier Sports Complex. DJ Nick Hylant helped start the day right with some good tunes. In the morning session, Bart Sullivan and Jamie Munro, the founder and CEO of 3d Lacrosse (also a former DI coach), shared generously with our defensive and offensive players, respectively.
We broke for an hour and ate lunch under a giant tent fit for 400 person wedding. According to the boys, the food's been "awesome" - coaches agree. In the second session, we worked on more shooting, clearing and riding, fast breaks, and new rules to 3v2 basketball that forced the players to "read the play."
Tonight at 8 p.m., we scrimmage Berkshire under the lights. Looking forward to seeing our boys be "play makers"!
More tomorrow....We'll keep you posted.
